Argentina has a lot of things to offer travelers! If you looking for a place to hang out at the beach all day and then go out and night then there is no better place than Mar Del Plata. Mar Del Plata has 2 main beaches that are both worth checking out. They are called La Playa Grande and La Playa Popular. If you decide these beaches are too crowded you can head either north or south to 
smaller beaches that offer the same beautiful beaches with less people! Miramar to the south and PinaMar to the north are two other popular beach towns that are accessible by bus leaving from Mar Del Plata. Almost everybody in Argentina takes a 2 week vacation in January or February. Mar Del Plata becomes a very popular destination. You will want to book a hostel before you go in order to make sure that you have a place to stay. Some hostels want you to book a room for a 7 day minimum during these summer months.
In Mar Del Plata there are plenty of hostels to stay in. I stayed in a hostel called Hostel Playa Grande. It was one of the best places that I stayed during my world trip! It has such a laid back environment, because it is a huge house with cool workers. It also is half a block to Calle Alem and 2 blocks to La Playa Grande. You can't beat the location. This place also allows you to use their surf boards for free! No matter where you stay in Mar Del Plata I am sure that you are going to have a good time! When you head to the beach you will start to realize that all the locals drink Mate 24/7 at the beach. Each group of friends will have their own mate to pass around and share all day long. It can 
get pretty hot in Mar Del Plata during the summer, and the water is about perfect temperature to cool off. There are decent sized waves depending on the day. So if you are a beginner or an experienced surfer, you will have a chance to catch some waves here! During January and February they also offer surf camps for people to learn. After the beach, its not a bad idea to head back to your hostel for a siesta to rest up for the night.
The nightlife in Mar Del Plata is fantastic. There are plenty of things to get into starting after 12 pm. This is because most locals do not eat dinner until about 11 pm. Mar Del Plata has a casino called Casino Central. For those travelers that are looking to gamble (which I would suggest not to for any budget traveller) is open 7 days a week. The two most popular streets to find discos, restaurants,
and bars are Avenida Constitucion and Calle Alem. They both have good night life with different styles of places to go out. In January and February, almost every night these two streets will be crowded until the sun comes up! After the clubs most people head to the local pancho (hot dog) restaurants to get some food!
